Built in 1965, Fort San Pedro is the oldest fortress in the Philippines.
It represents the history of Philippines, as it served as the base for independence at the end of Spanish colonization,
military base for U.S. soldiers during U.S. colonization, and prison camp during Japanese invasion.
It is planted by Ferdinand Magellan upon arriving in Cebu in 1521. It was believed by the people to have miraculous healing power
so they started chipping it away; the government encased it in another wooden cross to prevent further damage.
The basilica is the oldest cathedral in the Philippines. It was built in 1565 and the locals regard it sacred
because the statue of Baby Jesus was kept safe even in all the wars and colonization the Philippines went through.
It is popular among tourists because of its antique design and magnificent figure.
